Hare Krishna dear disciples and well-wishers of His Holiness Jayapataka Swami Guru Maharaja,
Please accept our humble obeisances.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
27th July 2018 is a very auspicious day – a) It is the 50th anniversary of Guru Maharaja’s first initiation, which is a major milestone in Guru Maharaja’s life; b) It is a special Purnima called Vyasa Purnima or Guru Purnima. We celebrate Vyasa Puja on the appearance day of our Guru, but this day is a standard day to be celebrated as Vyasa Puja for ALL gurus. While we should also worship Guru Maharaj on this day, we can use this opportunity to also worship all our siksha gurus and the ISKCON guru vrnda. we can definitely read about the importance of Guru and do a guru puja. c) The day of a Lunar eclipse. This is a major lunar eclipse that is completely visible over Eastern Africa, and Central Asia, seen rising over South America, Western Africa, and Europe, and setting over Eastern Asia, and Australia. In India, it starts around 23:44 and goes on for a good 3/4 hours. Generally, at this time it is auspicious to be awake and chant. There are many more guidelines for this – empty stomach, no other entertainment etc. In many places, temples will also be open, Tarpana or offering oblations to forefathers also done at this time. So, with all these and the most important one is we need every opportunity to pray for dear Guru Maharaj. Let us all get together on Zoom video conference call and do a 16 hours Sankirtan yajna for Guru Maharaj. Please gather in your respective temples, houses, Namahattas and other groups, get connected to Zoom and let us chant all together with all our hearts for Guru Maharaja’s successful surgery and speedy recovery.
