Because if there wasn’t Srila Prabhupad, what would there be today? Vaasudev Ghosh he sang a a similar song, if there wasn’t Gaur, what would there be? Who would have given us Radha Krishna Prema bhakti and so on? So I was thinking if there was no Srila Prabhupad, what would there be today? Would all these youths be Krishna conscious? And so many things. So we are all very indebted to His Divine Grace Abhay Charan Bhakit Vedanta Swami Prabhupad. I was in one Srila Prabhupad festival in Los Angeles and one lecture was given that those who live on the mountain don’t realize how big it is, when you are far away and you are coming close, you can see how big it is. So they were saying that sometimes Prabhupad disciples don’t realize how great Prabhupad was, because they were very close and those who are far away can appreciate Prabhupad’s greatness more! It was an interesting point. So we hope that everyone would appreciate how Prabhupad had sacrificed some much to give us Krishna consciousness. He could have stayed in Vrndavan, he would have got his liberation, but he went at the ripe age of 69 70, all over the world to spread Krishna consciousness, to fulfill the order of his spiritual master, and he made a history. His intention was not getting name and fame. It was mercy, to give out the mercy of Lord Caitanya to everyone, Haribol!
So we will continue with the verses glorifying Lord Nityananda.
So Lord Brahma and all his associates, became overwhelmed to hear the glories of the Lord that were sung by Narada muni, who by his singing of the Lord’s glory, worshipped everywhere. So hearing the Lord’s glories, one is naturally touched in the heart, especially if you are pure soul like Lord Brahma, to hear the glories of the Lord sung by Narada, it was something that overwhelmed or touched everyone. So we want to reach that platform where by hearing the glories of the Lord, that we are also touched in the heart, and that we are overwhelmed in ecstasy, by hearing the glories of the Lord. Haribol! Who would like to feel ecstasy every time the Lord is glorified? Haribol!
So I have glorified some of the qualities of Anantadev, so please therefore develop attachment for Lord Nityananda! Nityananda is the source of Ananta, so Ananta is also non-different from Nityananda Prabhu. So Anurag means constant service with affection. Sometimes Lord Nityananda is addressed as Mahaprabhu and sometimes as Prabhu. So Lord Brahma’s instruction to King Raivatha in the Vishnu Purana describes how one develops Anurag, constant service with affection. So that is what we want to develop in our Krishna consciousness. Not only constant service but also with affection. Like in the namahatta song, they say Krishna mata Krishna pita Krishna dhana praan. Krishna is our mother, He is our father, He is our life and He is our wealth! Haribol!
So those who wish to cross over the ocean of material birth and death, submerge in the ocean of bhakti, they should worship Lord Nityanandachand. Nitai Gauranga! Nitai Gauranga! So if you are drowned in the ocean of samsara you are ruined, but if you cross the ocean of samsara and dip in the unfathomable water of service of the Lord, then one achieves eternal spiritual happiness. So who would like to submerge in the ocean of spiritual bliss? Haribol! So you should take shelter of the lotus feet of Lord Nityananda. Haribol!
So he expresses his desire at the feet of all vaishnavas, that my desire is that I can worship the lotus feet of Lord Balaram, birth after birth. So people who are in this material world are busy gratifying their temporary senses, and want to enjoy the objects of their senses, through the medium of material knowledge. When one becomes detached from the material enjoying mood, he gets the opportunity to approach a spiritual master, by taking shelter of the spiritual master, who is non-different from Lord Nityananda. Lord Nityananda is non-different from the worshipable Lord Caitanya Krishna. So therefore as svayam prakash He is the dear most servitor of svayam rupa Sri Krishna Gaura Kanhai Pure devotional service is the propensity of pure liberated souls. A true disciple is engaged in the unmotivated, uninterrupted service of Gaura Kanhai. He is eligible to swim in the ocean of mellows of devotional service. This is explained in the Shwetaswatara Upanishad. Yasya deve para bhaktir yatha deve thatha guru, tasyaite kathitaa hy arthaaha, prakaashante mahaatmanaha.
“Only unto those great souls who have implicit faith in both, the Lord and the spiritual master are all the imports of Vedic knowledge automatically revealed.”
Narottamdas Thakur sang in his Prarthana, nitai pada kamala, koti Chandra sushitala, je chayay jagata jurai. Heno Nitai bine bhai, Radha Krishna paite nai, drdha kori dharo nitaiir paay. Ha! Ha! I can’t sing as nice as our youths! So Nitai’s lotus feet are as soothing as millions of moons. The entire world can be solaced by taking shelter of His lotus feet. Dear brother, without the mercy of Lord Nityananda, no one can attain the lotus feet of Radha and Krishna. Therefore, catch hold of the lotus feet of Nityananda, with firm determination.
Just as the titles, dwija, vipra, brahman are the same, or different names of the same person, that way Nityananda, Ananta and Baladev are similarly different names of the same Lord.
So Lord Nityananda who is the Supersoul, He told me joyfully, to write something about the glories of the pastimes of Lord Caitanya, to write a book. So on his order I am writing a book. So Vrndavandas Thakur was the original author to write the Caitanya Bhagavat. So after Nityananda accepted Vrndavandas Thakur as a disciple, He didn’t accept any other disciple. So Lord Nityananda appeared in the heart of Vrndavandas Thakur, and told him and instructed him to describe the characteristics and pastimes of Lord Caitanya. So Vrndavandas Thakur is revealing the instruction he received from Nityananda Prabhu within the heart, to write this book, after the disappearance of Lord Nityananda.
By the mercy of Lord Nityananda, the pastimes and character of Lord Caitanya becomes manifest. Because the storehouse of Lord Caitanya’s glories exists in the tongue of Shesha, Anantadev. How many more verses? Two
Therefore, Lord Anantadev is the storehouse of Lord Caitanya’s glories. Therefore, I have described a fragment of the two lotus feet of Lord Anantadev.
Hearing the pastimes of Lord Caitanya Chandra brings all auspiciousness. This is certain that, this is possible by the blessings of the devotees. By their mercy, things are revealed – know this for sure! So Srimad Bhagavatam 1.2.17 also states: Punya Shravana Kirtana, hearing and chanting of the Lord’s names and characteristics, is supremely purifying. So Vrndavandas Thakur heard the glories of Lord Caitanya and His pastimes, from the mouths of His devotees. These became the ingredients for the Sri Caitanya Bhagavat. So Vrndavandas Thakur is advising, one should follow the example and hear from the vaishnavas, in disciplic succession. Thus ends this chapter, Glories of Nityananda Prabhu as Anantadeva! Nitai Gauranga! Nitai Gauranga! Nitai Gauranga Jaya, Nitai Gauranga!
Any questions?
Question: Gurudev just now you told that henu nitai bine bhai Radha Krishna paaite nai, so what about other sampradayas where they worshipping Radha and Krishna? So are they going through Balaram or something else? Can you please explain?
Guru maharaj: We cannot give commentary on other sampradayas. In our sampradaya, if we want to get mercy of Radha and Krishna we need the mercy of Lord Caitanya. And if want the mercy of Lord Caitanya we should go thru Lord Nityananda. So someone who has studied the other paramparas, they can say. We know that Sri sampradaya, they worship Lakshmi Narayana, they don’t go thru Radha and Krishna. We know that Vishnu Swami sampradaya, they worship Yashoda and Krishna, Pushti marg, so they don’t go thru Radha and Krishna. Maybe the four Kumaras, Nimbarka Goswami, they worship Radha and Krishna. They would be the one that we would have to research. Why do you ask this question? Do you want to go to some other sampradaya? Haribol!
Question: Hare Krishna, my question is that maharaj, my devotion is more towards Radharani than Krishna, so can you explain me something about Radharani and why this is happening to me?
G: You see in the Madhya Lila, first part Lord Caitanya is described by Krishnadas Kaviraj, where He is experiencing extreme separation, in the mood of Radharani. He would sometimes be in the front of the Jagannath temple, in the middle of the night, crying. Sri Radharani, Her love for Krishna is supremely inspiring, and we all followers of Radharani. Radharani is completely sold out to Krishna! Krishna is Her master and that is the eight verse of Shikshashtakam, where Lord Caitanya says that there is no other Lord – even if You embrace me roughly or make Me suffer without His association. If you are really inspired by Radharani, it is her love for Krishna that is overwhelming. So you cannot separate Radha from K. Prabhupad had one carving where Radha and Krishna were combined. So that showed how Radha and Krishna are non-different. Also one secret, you are ready for a secret? Sometimes Radha feels such separation from Krishna that She falls unconscious and when that happens Krishna falls unconscious, and when that happens everything stops. The only person that is awake is Lord Nityananda or Balaram, and He wakes up Krishna and Radha, everyone, so that the creation starts to work again! Ha! Haribol! It is a secret! Last question.
Question: Hare Krishna, We went to Ekachakra dham in safari. And we hear that at a very young age, Lord Nityananda left Ekachakra. But after a very long time He met Lord Caitanya in Mayapur. So what happened in between? Want to hear from you guru maharaj.
Guru maharaj: Lord Nityananda travelled all over India and visited many holy places. Then He was in Vrindavan and He realized Lord Caitanya was starting His sankirtan movement, and then He went and joined Him. That is in a nutshell. If I were to say the whole pastimes, you can have a Caitanya Caritamrita like on Nityananda!
Alright, so one group photo.
