Dear Devotees in Nepal,
Please accept my blessings. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
I was in the Lotus Building attending TOVP exhibits conference on April 25 at 1.00 pm at Sridham Mayapur when the building began to shake. We quickly left our conference room and moved to Prabhupada’s park. While we there, I was informed that a massive earth quake had struck Nepal. My heart immediately went out towards all of you. I was anxious to know about your well being. Later I was informed that although our temple was saved and although the devotees were mostly safe, some of you suffered the loss of property, some lost your near and dear ones, some suffered other damages.
This is definitely a time of trial. Krishna sometimes reminds us through these calamities that this material world is a place of suffering and there is danger at every step. So through these calamities we can increase our dependence on Krishna and become more serious in Krishna Consciousness knowing that the only place where is there no suffering is the spiritual world and that we should utilise this precious human life to go back to home, Back to Godhead.
I would have liked to personally be there with all of you at this time to give you support and to co-ordinate the relief activities. My physical inability does not allow me to travel at this time. However being in Mayapur, I am constantly trying to mobilise various kinds of support for all of you like Food Relief etc. Devotees here and from all over the world are all co-opetatively working to provide various kinds of support to all of you and I have been always asking them for reports and also to personally help in whatever way I can.
I am praying for all of you everyday and my thoughts are constantly with you. Please remember to chant the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra seriously and turn this disaster into an opportunity to advance more quickly in Krishna Consciousness. We need to show Krishna our love for Him in the midst of various tests that he may put us through. By chanting we shall all be always linked together.
Your well wisher always,
Jayapataka Swami
